Takeena Ann Johnson was born on June 30, 1973, to Sheila Johnson and Herman Collins in New Orleans, LA. Takeena received her formal education from the St. Tammany Parish School System in Mandeville, LA. She furthered her education at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. Takeena was born and raised in Mandeville, LA and later moved to Conyers, GA in 2014. Takeena worked at TJ Maxx and at AT&T for twenty plus years. Takeena accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager and was united with Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Norwert Hills, Sr.
Takeena was initiated into the Nu Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated at Mississippi State University in 1993. She was a former member of the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Georgia Alumnae Chapter (Jewel of the Mountain). She also served as a member of the Hospitality Committee, Hostess for the Minerva Circle and Membership Intake and Co-Chair of Delta Academy. Her favorite color was red, she loved elephants, the New Orleans Saints, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Ta-Laia Thomas of Mandeville, LA, her sisters, Lawrencia (Kevin) Lewis of Lacombe, LA and Tania (Jahmal) Geary of Baton Rouge, LA; her brothers, Herman Lee Collins Jr., Kendrick Collins, both of Baton Rouge, LA; her uncle, Demetrius (Tina) Johnson; her nephew, Kingston Lewis; her nieces, Lira Lewis and Lauren Geary; her godchildren, Chauncey, Avian, and Seyannah; her honorary grandson, Jaheim Hammond; and a host of other relatives, friends, sorors, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Mama Gladys Carter; her maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Elma Johnson; her mother, Sheila Johnson-Guillory; her aunts Yolanda Roberson and Iris Kay Hill; her brother, Kehendrick Johnson; her father, Herman Collins; her grandmother, Odessa Collins Wilson.
