Rhonda Jones Obituary

Rhonda Faciane Jones was born to Tyrone Faciane Sr. and Dian Casborn Faciane on September 1, 1965 in Slidell, LA. She was born into the Catholic faith where she was christened and confirmed but later in life converted to the Apostolic faith.

Rhonda lived most of her life in Slidell, Louisiana, where she graduated from Salmen High School in 1984. She received a culinary arts certification from Louisiana Technical Community College (VOTECH) and spent many years baking and decorating cakes that were as delicious as they were beautiful. She became a certified paraprofessional educator. She worked as a para at Slidell High School in a Self-contained Classroom and in a Pre-K class at Mayfield Elementary School. Later in life, she attended college at Nunez Community College where she obtained an A.S. in Elementary Education. She then furthered her education and received a B.A. in Child Development and Family Studies from Southern University of New Orleans. After obtaining her degrees, she opened Prosperous Path Christian Academy where she nurtured and educated children cognitively, socially, emotionally and spiritually. It was her dream "to promote early education in young children and establish a love for learning in them to see them flourish and grow in their fullest potential."

In 1984, Rhonda married Monte A. Dumas and from this union Kara Marie, Dana Michelle and Rene Montinque were born. Years later, in 2005 she married the love of her life Deacon Elmo J. Jones who stayed by her side through sickness and health. Together, under the leading of the Lord, they became faithful members of Open Door Apostolic Church in 2014, under the leadership of Bishop Keith J. and Lady Kendra W. Boyd. Rhonda loved and served God with all of her heart, soul and strength. She served as a Primary Sunday School Teacher and President of the Pastor's Aide Committee.

Rhonda was a woman of prayer and could be found at the church praying for her family, church, and community before services and during the week. She was a constant encouragement and prayer warrior for those around her. She was always a thoughtful and generous giver. She will be remembered as a Godly woman who touched many people and trusted the Lord in all phases of life. When she wasn't serving the lord, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Family history was of great interest to her, especially her Creole heritage, which she frequently discussed with her Aunt Gail Dedeaux and close cousin Alisha Faciane. In her spare time, she enjoyed fellowshipping with her sisters in Christ: Eva Williams, Sherry Black and Shawn Jenkins, to name a few.

Rhonda was called home on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 58. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Peter "Willie" Casborn and Josephine "Mildred" Pichon Casborn; paternal grandfather David O. Faciane; and her best friend Kay P. Narcisse.

Rhonda will be forever remembered by her devoted husband Elmo; her daughters Kara Dorsey (LaBrian), Dana Littlepage (Roy), and Rene Dumas; her parents Tyrone Faciane Sr. (Joan) and Dian Casborn Faciane; brothers Tyrone Faciane Jr. (Altha), Marvin Faciane Sr. (Mary), sisters, Anisa Watts (William) and Jena Claude (Dwayne); her grandchildren: Adrian, Atorii, Amaya, Joseph, Kailee, Laela, Jordyn, Sanai, and Zulu. She also leaves behind bonus granddaughters Taylor and Tyler, bonus great-grandson Kenzo, her Nanan Mary Lou Casborn Faciane and Parrain Joe Laurent, Goddaughters Tessa Faciane Herron and Ashae' Faciane, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
