Beginning Season
Louis J. Seymour was born on April 22, 1948 in New Orleans, LA to the late Dolores and Louis E. Seymour. He was the eldest of 13 siblings. He was baptized at an early age, receiving his first Holy Communion at St. David Catholic Church, New Orleans, LA.
Cherishing His Memory
Louis J. Seymour was loved and respected by his family. Living in honor of his life is his loving and devoted wife, Gretchen I. Seymour, his 5 children: Louis Seymour II (Paquita); Tyrone Seymour; Dwayne Seymour Sr.; Maya North (Zachary) and a stepdaughter Jennifer Thomas-Vick (Cedric)., a goddaughter, Yolanda Goudeau, Brothers: Roy Seymour; Fedral Seymour; Sisters: Joyce Lewis (Jacob); Regina Jackson; Bernadette Seymour; Elizabeth Britton (Frank) and Louise Gordon. Louis was proceeded in death by his daughter Tanya Seymour, his parents, Louis E. Seymour and Dolores Seymour, his siblings, Michael Seymour; John Seymour; Jules Seymour; Marshall Seymour and Lois Wright. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Jerrick Seymour; Brittney Seymour; Jasma Augustus (Jonathan); Tavon Seymour; Taja Seymour; Dwayne Seymour Jr.; Landon McFarland; Kennedy Vick; Kailey Vick and Kannon Vick. He leaves 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Military Season
Louis J. Seymour joined the United Stated Military, proudly serving his country until retirement. He served two terms of the Vietnam War, 1966-1968 where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
Education, Occupation and Life Accomplishments Season
Louis primary and secondary education within the New Orleans public school system; Graduate of Jefferson Parish West Bank Vocational-Technical School (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning 1982); Graduate of Delgado Community College (General Studies 1992); Graduate of School of International Mobile Air Conditioning (1994); Received his Certificate of License to preach the Gospel Ministry by Corinthian Baptist Church No. 2, New Orleans, LA (1993); Louis also served as an Associate Minister for many years at Corinthian Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, Covington, LA; He was a graduated of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and received his Certificate of Ordination from IDEAL Missionary Baptist and Educational Association. He served as a volunteer firefighter and Chaplin for Washington Parish Fire District 1, (2018-2019). Louis was member of The Knights of Columbus (Sacred Heart Council); He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of Purple Heart Chapter 741 where he served as Commander during 2009-2010; Lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Louis was a Master Gardener (LSU Ag Center) and enjoyed cooking, fishing and playing the piano.
