It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Pierce Lain Jr., affectionately known as "RayRay," on January 26, 2025, in New Orleans, LA. Born on December 3, 1972, to Raymond Pierce Lain Sr. and Blessed Taylor Lastie, RayRay's journey was one filled with love, passion, and dedication.
As the eldest of three children, RayRay was a beloved brother to Ayana, Derrick, and Roderick Lain. His education began at Thomas Alva Edison Elementary School and Andrew J. Belle Middle School, leading to his graduation from John F. Kennedy High School in 1990. A proud member of the school community, RayRay served on the class committee, played the bass drum, and excelled in football as an offensive lineman and linebacker—skills he continued to showcase at Grambling State University.
RayRay's heart was as mighty as his prowess on the football field. He was a devoted member of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church and worked tirelessly in the construction industry. His love for family was evident in his 32-year marriage to Tara Tircuit Lain, with whom he raised three wonderful children: Tayana Tircuit Augustus, Taylor Lain, and Raymond Lain III. He was a cherished father-in-law to Rondell Augustus Sr. and a doting "PopPop" to his grandson, Rondell Augustus Jr.
RayRay's passion extended beyond family and work; he was an avid supporter of the New Orleans Saints and the Pelicans. His legacy of strength, community, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. As we bid farewell to our dear RayRay, we celebrate a life that touched so many and left an indelible mark on our hearts.
