Woodrow Wilson, Jr was born in Independence, Louisiana. The son of Woodrow Wilson, Sr and Ellen Davis Wilson. He attended schools in Tangipahoa Parish. He worked many jobs throughout his life, he retired from Southeastern Louisiana University, was the owner of Wilson’s Janitorial Services and drove the school bus in St. Helena Parish, Greensburg, LA for 20 years.
His most important ministries were to God and his family. He was a saved and sanctified man of God. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, an evangelist for 2 years, pastored St. Mary’s Baptist Church for 4 years, New Jerusalem Baptist Church for 33 years and Temple of Faith for 29 years, and never missed delivering a Sunday message in all of those years. He touched the lives of untold numbers of people with his preaching until he passed this side of life to that place that was promised to him at age 9. He can say like Paul, “ 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Woodrow Wilson, Sr and Ellen Wilson Carr, one sister, Angelina Robinson, and one brother, Samuel Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Sharon, his two daughters Toni and Joneice and two sons Jonathan and Jeremiah, all of Hammond, LA. Three sisters, Gloridean (Richard) Wilson Jacks, Willie Pearl (Walter) Ard of Hammond, LA and Cora Lee Pedescleaux of Baytown, TX. 4 brothers, Henry Carr, Jr, Charles (Ida) Carr, Ray (Anastasia) Carr and Tommy Carr all of Hammond, LA, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 4 god sons. Trikeith, Brandon Taylor, Letron Hall and Acea Sibley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His greatest wish was that his family and friends would know Jesus as he grew to know him. His memory will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
