Maurice Appleton

Maurice Alan Appleton, age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, and found his eternal rest in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Alan Appleton Sr. and Sonja Key Harp, as well as his sister, Diana Appleton Knight. 

Maurice is survived by his daughter, Chantelle Appleton Nalls (Chris); his grandchildren, Autumn Josephine Nalls, Gracen Richard Nalls, and Adele Gloria Nalls; his former wife, Judy Barrient Dudenhefer; his sister, Susan Appleton and brother, Jimmy B. Thigpen; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A native of Slidell, Louisiana, Maurice spent many years working on a farm in Winnsboro, where he found great satisfaction in a way of life he loved. From a young age, he had a passion for diesel mechanics, a skill that served him well throughout his life. While working on the farm, he took pride in plowing fields, maintaining equipment, and keeping the tractors running.

Maurice’s journey was marked by both challenges and perseverance. Now free from suffering and addiction, he has found peace and rest.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan, Louisiana. Family and friends will be invited to gather in remembrance of Maurice and to honor the life he lived.
