Cris was born on Monday, August 8, 1955 in La Habana, Cuba and fled Cuba
seeking refuge in the United States in October 1961 at the age of 6, with her
mother, Maria del Carmen, and two of her sisters, Maria Dolores and Maria de
Lourdes, where they joined her other sisters, Maria Teresa and Maria Isabel in New
Orleans, and where in 1965 they were reunited with their father, Jorge. Cris grew
up in New Orleans and Kenner, and for most of her adult life resided in Metairie.
Cris enjoyed traveling, running, reading, taking care of her pets (especially her
cats), taking care of and having fun with her nieces and nephews, and her work.
Cris worked with Dr. John Ochsner and Dr. Gene Parrino, among others, in the
original Ochsner Heart Team as a surgical tech. She was devoted to her patients
and was loved and well respected.
Cris was the daughter of Maria del Carmen Vicenta Bringuier Exposito Medina
from Moron, Cuba and Jorge Ramon Crisanto Medina Nuñez, from Sagua La
Grande, Las Villas, Cuba, both deceased. She was the granddaughter of Vicenta
Exposito y Alfonso from Moron, Cuba and Julio Bringuier y Laredo from
Remedios, Cuba, who helped care for her and her sisters while growing up in New
Orleans and are deceased; and Blanca Nuñez Salas of Sagua La Grande, Las Villas,
Cuba and Ramon Medina Penton of Quemado de Guines, Las Villas, Cuba, both
deceased.   Cris was the beloved sister of Jorge Medina (deceased) and beloved
aunt of Oscar (deceased) and was the sister-in-law of Drago Stoyanovich, Lucy
Medina, Bobby Lawless, Mac Whitfield (deceased), and John McLean. She was
also a loving grand-aunt to Jimmy, Jenny, Tylyn, Elizabeth, Manuel Jr., Sarah,
Cristina, Karina, Stefan, Megan, Brandon, Natalie, Amanda, Austin, Cody, Henry,
Madeleine and Nayra and great-aunt to Teddy and Aubrey.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witness. We honor her independence, her
adventurous nature, her generosity, her joy of life, her courage, and her work ethic.
