Lurilean L. Sheridan was born on September 4, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Lawrence B. Landor and Thelma Williams Landor.
She received her formal education at Chata Ima High School in Lacombe, Louisiana, graduating with the Class of 1966. Lurilean furthered her education at Delgado University, where she earned certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Covington, Louisiana.
Lurilean was first united in marriage to Jerry L. Mims and later to Rev. Frank A. Sheridan, Sr. She retired from Southeast Louisiana Hospital, where she faithfully served as a psychiatric aide.
At the age of 42, Lurilean accepted Christ as her Savior and united with Magnolia Baptist Church. There, she served devotedly as church secretary, cook, and First Lady.
Lurilean was well known for her warm spirit, generosity, and kindness. She loved to cook—especially for others and for community events—and found joy in bringing people together through food. A talented seamstress, she could mend and restore nearly any garment. Above all, she had a heart for helping others. Whether with friends, family, or complete strangers, she never met someone she didn’t treat like family.
Lurilean’s memory will forever be cherished by her daughters, Monica Mims (Craig) of Lacombe, LA, and Christy Nicole Sheridan (Joshua) of Lacombe, LA; her siblings, James Landor (Mary) of Lacombe, LA, Albert “Doppie” Landor (Marion) of Slidell, LA, and Frank Landor of Lacombe, LA; and her godchildren, Jackie Pitts of Slidell, LA, Antoinette Allen (Mike), and Jason Landor of Madisonville, LA.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Frank A. Sheridan, Sr.; her parents, Thelma Williams Landor and Lawrence Baptiste Landor; her son, Lawrence A. Mims; her brother, Roosevelt Landor; her grandparents, Victor and Delphine; and her godson, Sedrick Ducre.
Lurilean will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose faith, compassion, and love for others touched countless lives. Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
