Born on June 9, 1979, in Independence, LA, Loretha Deshaun Avery was the beloved daughter of Gloria Avery and Felix Stiggers. She embarked on her educational journey at Varnado High School in Varnado, LA, and went on to shine at Northshore Technical Community College in Bogalusa, LA, where she earned an AAS in Business Management with honors. Her career path led her to the world of retail.
Loretha embraced her faith early on, joining Mt. Bethel MBC under the guidance of Chris Matthews. She had a zest for music, a passion for studying, and a love for reading.
Loretha's legacy lives on through her children, Vedora Avery and Cornell Penn, and her grandson, Greyson Avery. She's fondly remembered by her parents, Gloria Avery and Felix (Candi) Stiggers; brothers, David Avery, Felix Bernard Stiggers, Lincoln Stiggers, and Sebastian Stiggers; sisters, Patricia Avery, Audrey Stiggers, and Kashia Stiggers; favorite cousin, Jalisa Peters; and Mikenze Williams, her godsister. Her special friend, Michael Penn, holds a special place in her story and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
She reunites in spirit with her extended father, Leel Lewis; grandparents, Louis and Mary Avery, Felix Stiggers and Carey Ann Bagley; brother, Nathaniel Stiggers; aunts, Sandra Peters and Diane Avery; uncle, Louis Martin; and cousin, Sally Bunch, who have gone before her.
