“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 (KJV) Linda Thornton Pichon transitioned to being with the Lord on May 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Linda Thornton Pichon, daughter of the late Mary Manning Thornton and Clementine Thomas Thornton, was born on August 22, 1955, in Bogalusa, LA. Linda was the sixth (6th) child of eight siblings: Robert, Willie, Lester, Mary, Gladys, Jerry and Kenneth Thornton. At a young age she dedicated her life to Christ and became a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. She later united with Light of The World Church. Later in life she united with the El Shaddi United Ministries, under the leadership of Vicar J. B. Stokes, where she served until the Lord called her home. Linda served as an Usher at Light of The World Church and El Shaddi United Ministries. Linda is the mother to five children: Richard, Kiwana, LaToya, Renado Thornton and Tekandra Wise, her eighteen (18) grandchildren and twelve (12) great grandchildren. Later, she met and married Herman Pichon, on June 20, 1980. Linda became the mother to three bonus children: Herman and Kenneth Hartley and Tina (Kenneth) Dunkley. Linda was blessed to have two Godsons: Micheal DeCedric Davis.
Linda was employed at Greenbrier Nursing Home, Lacombe Nursing Home and she worked at Slidell Guest House until she retired. Linda was a giver at heart, she believed in helping others. Linda's favorite scripture was Psalms 91; her Favorite Gospel songs were: "I Can Only Imagine”, "Yesterday”, and "Going Up Yonder." Her favorite hobbies included baking and shopping. Her favorite Gospel Artists were Marvin Sapp, Kirk Franklin, and Tamela Mann; Blues Artists were Johnny Taylor and Otis Redding, her Favorite flower was Sunflowers. Her most favorite saying was “play with your own brothers and sisters." Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Manning Thornton and Clementine Thomas Thornton, one brother, Lester Thornton. To cherish her memories she leaves her children: Richard Thornton, Kiwana Thornton, Latoya Thornton, Renado Thornton (Long Beach, MS) and Tekandra Wise; eighteen (18) grandchildren and twelve (12) great grandchildren. Seven siblings: Robert (Marilyn) Thornton, Willie Thornton, Mary (Robert) Lacour, Gladys, Jerry and Kenneth Thornton, of Slidell, LA. Uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To know our “Mother” Linda was to love her.
