Lillian Johnson, 94 of Slidell, La passed away peacefully at her home on May 03, 2026. Lillian was born March 6th, 1932 to Raphield Johnson and Laura Gillum-Johnson. While they both preceded her in death, their presence remained alive in her stories, her traditions, and the values she passed on to others. She often reflected on the love and guidance they provided, drawing strength from their memory and honoring them through the way she lived her own life. Lillian accepted Christ in her life as a young adult fellowshipping with Walker TempleC.O.G.IC.
Lillian was an entrepreneur from an early age forging a path that was not always available to women of color. She was one of the first women of color in her community to be a business owner. Lillian was a professional beautician, graduating from the Lynn Macon Beauty College in New Orleans, La. She was a woman of multitudes, running Lil’s Place in Alton, La, while serving as a beautician. She was employed by Coast as a driver, delivering
Lillian also, served as a substitute teacher with the St. Tammany Parish School District for over 10 years. She ran a successful Avon business for many years along with being a sales representative for Princess House Inc. Her legacy is not defined solely by milestones or accomplishments, but by the everyday acts of kindness that shaped the lives of family and friends that she showed support for over her lifetime. She made a lasting difference in ways both big and small. Her resilience was evident in every challenge she overcame. Even during the final seasons of her life, she showed courage, strength, and a hopeful spirit that inspired those around her.
The sorrow we experience today is deep and immeasurable, yet her life’s story does not end with this moment. Instead, it continues in the lives of the loved ones she leaves behind. Lillian was preceded in death by her mother, father and six sibling- Archie L. Green, Ed Moore Green SR., Howard Johnson, Bernice Brown, Olivia Ridley, and Elias Johnson. Lillian will be mourned by her son, Janeiro Johnson, siblings, Joseph Johnson and Doretha Johnson King along with all her nieces, nephews, additional family and friends.
Those who were blessed to know her will remember her as a woman of strength, warmth, and deep devotion. She lived with integrity, loved wholeheartedly, and served others selflessly. Though we grieve her physical absence, we celebrate the powerful example she set before us. We honor her by continuing the kindness she demonstrated, by loving one another more intentionally.
Her memory will forever remain a source of comfort during our hardest days and a reminder of gratitude during our happiest moments.
