Leonard "Popcorn" Allen, Sr.

It is with deep sympathy to announce the passing of Mr. Leonard "Popcorn" Allen Sr., who departed this life on September 23, 2023, at the age of 79, in Covington, Louisiana. 

Leonard was born on March 10, 1944 in Scarsdale, Louisiana to the late Herbert and Laura Allen.

Leonard graduated from Phoenix High School in 1962.  

Leonard retired from Offshore after 42 years of service. 

Leonard was a devoted husband to the late Brenda McKelphin - Allen for 32 years. 

Leonard was the father of six children: Laura Ann Allen, Cassandra (Tyrone) Sanchez, Leonard Allen Jr., the late Tyrone and Shawn Allen, and Nicole Allen-Bush. 

Leonard will be remembered by his children, grandchildren, brothers, a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. 

Please join the Allen family for a Celebration of a Life Well Lived for Mr. Leonard Allen Sr. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Baptist Church, 2823 English Turn Road, Braithwaite, LA 70040, with Rev. Jaydon K. Green officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Leonard will be laid to rest next to his wife at Ponemah Cemetery on Monday, October 9, 2023. Ponemah Cemetery is located at 1136 Louisiana Avenue in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
