John Henry Jones, affectionately known as Spot, was born on August 29, 1943, to J.D. and Carrie Jones in Covington, Louisiana. He received his formal education at Rosenwald High School in Covington.
In 1986, John married his first wife, Lestine Jones, and later wed Sally Jones. He initially resided in Covington before relocating to Santa Maria, California, in 1973, and eventually returned to Covington.
Throughout his career, John worked for several organizations, including Mission Linen, Cal Poly University, Union Sugar, and Greyhound. He worked for Erik Johnsen & family and then once Mr. Johnsen passed he worked for Tim Keiper & family doing the same thing maintenance and groundskeeper.
John accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and became a member of Abita Springs Christian Church in the late 20th century, where he served as a Deacon under the leadership of his sister, Pastor Sarah Lowe. He enjoyed fishing and watching football.
John is survived by his children: Beatrice Jones (Houston, TX), Candace Tubbs (Cincinnati, OH), Crystal Tubbs (Cincinnati, OH), and Kisha Jones (Hercules, CA); his seven grandchildren: Charles, Rotunda, Shaunda Jones, Christopher and Christine Tubbs, Kionna Barr, and Kaden Carr; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, J.D. Jones, and sisters: Lillian Walker, and Sarah Lowe. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Jones Sr.; his mother, Carrie Jones; his sisters, Mary Francis Smith, Rosemary Cole and Ruth Mays; and his brothers, Calvin Jones and Early James Jones.
