Gretchen Ann Sylve

Gretchen Ann Sylve was born on May 19, 1962 to the union of Joseph and Mamie Sylve in New Orleans, LA. Gretchen received her formal education at Slidell High School in Slidell, LA. She furthered her education at Chicago Community College and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chicago, IL. She worked at Sears Credit Union for many years until retirement. She operated JayG's Catering alongside her daughter, Jaleysa. Gretchen accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age at Morris Hill Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Macedonia Baptist Church where she faithfully served as Usher, Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and as a member of the kitchen committee. Gretchen received certification from the National United Church Ushers Association of America. She also attended George T. Grier School of Ushering. Gretchen loved cooking, catering, crafting, puzzles, games, decorating, and spending time with her grand-kids. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children, Joseph Earl Sylve and Jaleysa (Edward III) Lazard; her grandchildren; Ava Sylve, Ja'Kyrie Lazard, and Edward (EJ) Lazard IV; her brothers, Eugene (Maria) Sylve, Jerry (Rosemary) Sylve, Jason (Donita) Sylve, Jimmie (Yoselin) Sylve, Kevin (Franca) Sylve, and Bryant (Mary) Sylve; her sisters, Brunette Robinson, Genevieve (George) Blackwell, and Janet (JB) Griffin; her honorary sister, Jerrie Hart; her Godfather, Luther Chism; her Godchild, Brittany Kirsh; bonus daughters, Sierra Henderson, Katie Michel, and Ashley Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Mamie Sylve; her sisters, Josephine, Mae, Eva, and Elanor; her brothers, Joseph Jr., Edward, and James (Tater); her granddaughter, Amani Grace; and her nephew, Kolby Warren.
