Gary Wayne Lester, 81, passed away on February 15, 2026.

Born on October 15, 1944 in Brownwood, TX, Gary spent the last decade living in Metairie, LA. Gary lived life on his own terms. He was a quiet man who valued his independence, often keeping to himself, yet he never hesitated to lend a hand when someone needed help. Those who knew him understood that while he preferred solitude, his generosity spoke louder than words.

Gary was mechanically gifted and had a natural talent for fixing just about anything with an engine. Cars, lawnmowers, and small machines seemed to cooperate under his hands, especially if they were built before computers took over. If something had gears, grease, and a stubborn streak, Gary could usually bring it back to life.

While he dreamt of being a pilot and spent much of his youth working on and flying small planes and gyrocopters, he was forced to stay grounded and hone his mechanical skills, building small working cars for his daughters to drive around the yard.

He is preceded in passing by his father, mother, and beloved sister Rena, and survived by his three daughters: Dorielle, Dorci, and Dianna and three sisters: Karen, Sharon, and Linda, who will remember him in their own ways. Fly High!
