Evelyn O'Brien Obituary

Evelyn Fairley O’Brien, aged 88, was born on April 2, 1937, to the union of Henry Fairley and Carrie Brown Fairley in Mandeville, LA. She spent her formative years surrounded by the nurturing warmth of her family and the vibrant community of St. Tammany Parish. Evelyn received her formal education in Covington, LA, attending Covington Rosenwald, where she developed a love for learning that she carried throughout her life. She furthered her education at Johnson's Beauty School in Bogalusa, LA, where she became a certified cosmetologist, a career that allowed her to touch the lives of many with her talent and kindness.

Evelyn was married to Johnnie L. Pack and later to Aaron O’Brien, cherishing the bonds of family and friendship. As a lifelong resident of Mandeville, LA, she was an integral part of the community, known for her warmth and generosity. Evelyn dedicated 10 years as the head beautician at Southeast Hospital, where she was admired for her professionalism and her compassionate nature.

Known affectionately as Mickey, she accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was a devoted member of the choir at Morning Star Baptist Church. Her deep faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Mickey's passions were many and varied, including crocheting, crabbing, baking, gardening, singing, and making pralines. Her culinary skills were particularly celebrated, and she was beloved in her community as the neighborhood sweet lady, renowned for her famous frozen cups (zips), which brought joy to many on hot summer days.

Mickey is survived by her children, Althea Frick and Chantay Pack; her grandchildren, Wendell Fairley (Jennifer), John Harley, Joshua Johnson, Tamica Frick, Travis Anderson, Jaleel Johnson, Tricia Wilson,

ReElla Marshall, and Eureka Johnson; her thirty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Simmie Fairley (Leola); her special niece, Sabrina Edgerson; her granddaughter, Eureka Johnson; her grandson, Wendell Fairley; two nieces; one nephew; four great-nieces; and a host of cousins. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Fairley; her mother,

Carrie Brown Fairley; her sister, Barbara Cummings; her granddaughter, Senorita Reimonenq; her son, Albert Fairley; and her grandson,
