Ernest “Pee Wee” Chapman, Jr. was born on September 25, 1963, to Lula Mae Byrd and Ernest Chapman, Sr. in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Ernest received his formal education at Hammond High School in Hammond, LA.

Early in his employment career Ernest worked at 200 Shells Restaurant, Crapazano Brothers, Walk-Ons and Santa Fe of Hammond, La. Most recently before his illness made him stop riding his bike to work, he worked as a Chef Assistant at Southeastern Louisiana University Student Union.

Ernest rededicated his life to Christ as his Savior and was united with West Mount Olive MBC in Tylertown, Mississippi under the leadership of his baby brother, Pastor Charlie Reed, Jr. where he willingly served in whatever capacity needed.

Pee Wee loved fishing and watching the Saints game! His outfit wasn’t complete without a hat or his shades.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Lula Mae Byrd, Charlie Reed, Sr., Ernest Chapman Sr., his grandparents, Dollie and Luther Byrd, Lucille Wilson, Joe Chatman, a son, La’ Courtney Crawford Sr., four brothers, Jessie “ Sonny” Oliver, James “Cooter” Oliver, Lee Edward “ Pop” McGee, Freddy Chapman and two sisters, Lula B. Oliver Parker and Patricia Chapman and one grandson, Damontez Brumfield- Chapman, nephews, Arthur Tyler, Orlandas Chapman, a niece, Julia Parker, Aunts; Lena Mae Henderson Byrd, Jessie Allen, Rosie Banks, Dorthy Henderson, Jo Ann Byrd, Elizabeth Chatman, Sarah Armstrong, Floridine Chatman, Rosa Lee Chatman, Beatrice Chatman & Uncles; Edward Byrd, Luther Byrd, William Byrd, Charlie Chatman, Sr., Joe Chatman, Jr., J.C. Chatman, Edna Chatman and Ellis Chatman

Ernest leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Gloria Ann Chapman, a son Ernest Dewayne Berry (Michelle) of Dallas, Texas and two daughters, Quintasha Chapman of Baton Rouge, La, and Gracia Patterson of Hammond, LA. His grandchildren, Lavell Bernard, Jr., Adrian Dillon, Jr., A’rian Dillon, A’Zyrian Chapman all of Baton Rouge, La. J’ryus Berry, Zayne Berry and Kaliyah Berry all of Dallas, Tx., six brothers: Charles McGee of Brookhaven, MS, Michael McGee (Welba) of Beaumont, TX, Charlie Reed, Jr.( Michelle) of McComb, MS, Willie McGee, Joseph McGee, Johnny McGee all of Hammond, and two sisters Charlestine McGee Jackson of McComb, MS and Carla Chapman Short of Houston, TX., Lil Charlie his nephew who took good care of his “Uncle P” and his aunts Josephine Byrd of Brookhaven, Bessie Poole of Chicago, IL, Margie Griffin of Jackson, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
