Elder Louis Joe Smith

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elder Louis Joe Smith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Louis was born July 7, 1937, in Slidell and passed away peacefully on April 3,2025. 

Louis was well-known in the St Tammany Parish and surrounding areas as the owner and operator of Smith's Water Well Drilling Service. He was an Elder and longtime member of Glad Tidings Seventh Day Adventist Church. 

He leaves his wife Alberta W. Smith, children Gail, Michael, Brenda and Albert, 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends to cherish his memory. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Louis and Thelma Jones Smith and his children Joe Smith, David Smith, Alma Smith Valentine Wright, and Marvin Smith. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Glad Tidings SDA Church on Monday, April 14, 2025, viewing from 12 noon - 1pm and service at 1pm.
