Donald Roger Bradley's journey on earth came to a peaceful close on Thursday, July 4, 2024. At the vulnerable age of 84, he passed away at the Hospice House in Slidell, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and determination. Born on December 14th, 1939, in Kershaw, South Carolina, Donald was the son of Oscar and Flossie Robertson Bradley. His life was deeply rooted in Slidell, where he resided for 50 years and which he proudly called home. Donald's memory is honored by his loving children, Donald Bradley, Jr., Christine Silva (Justin), Jeffrey Bradley (Alecia), and Jennifer Priola (Kerry), as well as his sisters Brenda Nauful, Sandra Garrett (Jim), and Delilah Williams (Lanny). His life story also includes the fond remembrance of his brothers Dudley, Milton, and Eugene Bradley, who predeceased him. The branches of his family tree extend to his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Brittany Marchesi, Johnathon Harris, Gabriella Meaux, Berk Kibilcim, Jenna Meaux, Michael Meaux, Joy Bradley, Sarah Bradley and Evan Bradley, Greyson Marchesi, Brexton Marchesi, Noah Harris, and Richard Harris.
A man of many talents, Donald embarked on a successful career in the plywood industry before venturing into entrepreneurship with his own welding and fabricating business. Donald fabricated many of the structures that can still be seen today driving through Slidell, Metairie and New Orleans. His intellectual curiosity was evident in his avid reading and his passion for sailing and cartography. This passion culminated in the designing and building of a steel yacht alongside his son Jeffrey, showcasing his exceptional craftsmanship and fascination of sailing. Donald's gift for storytelling enriched the lives of those around him. His narratives, brimming with wisdom and life lessons, will be treasured and recounted for generations. His Dobermans, particularly Sue-Z, held a special place in his heart. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice Foundation of the South and the staff of the Hospice House for their compassionate care and professionalism during Donald's final weeks. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his stories will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends
