Dinah Mae Laurent

Dinah Mae King Laurent, 83, was born on February 2, 1938 to the late Sedonia Sams and Andrew King in Houston, Texas.    

Dinah received her formal education in the Orleans Parish School System in New Orleans, Louisiana.  On May 29, 1956 she met and married the late Chester Laurent, Sr. and to this union five children were born. She worked as a Cafeteria Aid for many years in St. Tammany Parish School System and retired. She later became a housekeeper and a child care worker. 

Dinah was christened at an early age and later received confirmation and untied with the Catholic Church. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking and baking (carrot cakes were here speciality), taking care of her children & grandkids; and she loved being a homemaker.  

   She leaves to mourn but cherish her loving memories; her children, Gregory Laurent, Sr. of Lacombe, Chester Laurent, Jr. (Loretta) of Lacombe, Glen Laurent of Atlanta, Georgia and Lonnie Laurent of Lacombe; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Nancy Cousin; a daughter-in-law,  Stacey Francois as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dinah was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Laurent, Sr.; her son, Christopher Laurent, Sr.; her father, Andrew King; her mother, Sedonia Sams; her sister, Theresa J. King and brother, Alsie Thomas.
