David L. Cannard, born on March 7, 1953, in Lynnwood, California, to Joseph R. Cannard and Jacqueline Harris, spent his childhood in Portland, Oregon. He served in the United States Air Force and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. David was married to LaVerne G. Cannard (Patrick), and together they had a daughter, Katey L. Cannard (Brunet), along with two granddaughters, Victoria L. Brunet and Arabella M. Brunet.
David was a man who loved deeply. Alongside his wife, LaVerne, he opened their home to many children as foster parents, creating a nurturing and safe environment. A true jack-of-all-trades, he approached every job with passion and dedication. Known for being a man of his word, David was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially during challenging times for his daughter, Katey, and her child.
As the ultimate girl dad and grandfather, David enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including exercising his right to bear arms, studying the Bible, and gardening. Above all, he cherished his role as a family man, finding joy in returning home at the end of each day. In his later years, he became a significant father figure to Ashley Kim (Campbell-Eft) and her children, Kyah Kim and Sarah Groetsch.
In his final days, David was surrounded by the love and care of his daughter, who devoted herself to him just as he had done for others. He passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
David is survived by his daughter, Katey L. Cannard (Brunet), and his granddaughters, Victoria L. Brunet and Arabella M. Brunet, along with his siblings, Barbara Cannard (Kurt), James "Jim" Cannard (Stacie), and John Cannard (Julie). He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie; his parents; and his brother, Bobby Cannard. v
