Chester Joseph Laurent, Sr, 88, was born on November 11, 1932 to the late Edward Laurent, Sr. and Marie Izela Pichon in Lacombe, Louisiana. He received his formal education from the school at an early age in Lacombe, La. He was of the Catholic faith and accepted Christ as his personal savior.
Chester was employed as an Heavy Equipment Operator, laborer on the railroad, a dump truck driver and he owned a tire shop. He enjoyed playing cards, poker and black jack; enjoyed watching wrestling, and trips to the casino.
Chester was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Joseph Laurent, Sr.; his parents, Marie Izela Pichon and Edward Laurent, Sr.; four brothers, Edward Laurent, Jr., Elvin (Crop) Laurent, Paul Laurent and Peter Laurent; three sisters, Lolite Gilbert, Edna Silve and Joyce Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories a loving and devoted wife, Dinah King Laurent a resident of Pontchartrain Health Care Center, Mandeville; four sons, Chester J. Laurent, Jr. (Loretta), Gregory Laurent, Sr., both of Lacombe, LA, Glen Laurent of Atlanta, GA and Lonnie Laurent of Lacombe, LA; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one brother, Maurice “Morris” Laurent, Sr. of Texas and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
