Alberta E. Smith, aged 85, was born on November 15, 1939, to Isabella and Elmo Williams in Slidell, Louisiana.
Alberta received her formal education at St. Tammany High School in Slidell and subsequently furthered her studies at VOTEC, where she attained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. She married Louis Joe Smith (LJ) and continued to reside in Slidell.
Alberta dedicated her career to nursing, working as a CNA at Greenbriar, and later embraced the role of a homemaker after retirement.
A devout Christian, Alberta accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was initially united with Starlight Baptist Church and later became a member of Glad Tidings SDA Church, where she served as a Deaconess. She was also an active member of the Jolly 20 Social Civic Club for five years. A passionate fan of the New Orleans Saints, Alberta enjoyed singing in church, entertaining guests, cooking for her children, and cultivating her garden to maintain the beauty of her yard.
Alberta is survived by her children: Gail (Harold) Cooper, Michael Smith, Brenda Smith, and Albert (Ronda) Smith; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Square; daughters-in-law, Angela, Elissa, and Valerie; as well as her goddaughter, Sonia Slaughter.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elder Louis Joe Smith; her sons, Joe Louise Smith and David E. Smith; her daughter, Alma Wright Valentine; her son, Marvin W. Smith; her sister, Marie Smooth; and her parents, Isabella and Elmo Williams.
