Willie Houston Obituary

Mrs. Willie T. Houston was born March 25, 1932, to the late Robert Bradley, Sr. and the late Edna Taylor-Bradley, in Copiah County, Mississippi. As she said, she comes up with two sisters and four brothers. She often told us about stories of her life, for instance, the one about how she had to take on the roles of a mother at an early age as she graciously helped her mother care for her siblings.

Meanwhile, sometime later she met L.B. Houston, who later became her husband. Destined to raise a healthy family the two moved to Westwego, Louisiana, along with the two young daughters. As a strong-minded woman, with a loving and caring heart, she immediately began her long-time career as a restaurant cook, to meet her family obligations.

Furthermore, for many years she has worked for a restaurant she described it as, on the Hill. Later, she got a job at Schnell's restaurant. Of course, it was never one job she would work, she always had a second job, even if it was part-time. Unfortunately, her diminished health forced her to retire, from the passion of her life. Even though she loved crossword puzzles and her front porch in Marrero, Louisiana, retirement made a way for her to enjoy the two more often.

On the other hand, on January 16, 2015, her husband departed this life and left her to mourn. Just four years later she joined him in death, on August 3, 2019, after a tough battle with heart failure. She leaves to mourn, one sister, Eva Bradley-Dixon, and one brother, Willie Eddie Bradley. She leaves four daughters and two sons to mourn: Elaine Bradley Dent, Peggy Lee Williams, Cynthia Houston Boyd, David Houston, Dennis Houston and Crystal Darlene Houston.

Moreover, she leaves behind to mourn a host of nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren, Amanda Dent-McIntyre, Melinda Dent-Sotan, Robert Dent, Miranda Dent, Steven Williams, Clifton Williams, Jr., Christopher Williams, Keisha Houston-Freeman, Kevin Houston, Kim Boyd-Thunderbird, Robert Corey Boyd, Willie Houston, Jaulana Houston-Wiliams, and Dominick Houston. She leaves to mourn, 16 great grandchildren, Chrishona Guient, Joshua Guient, Brandon Dent, Brittany Dent, Bridgette Dent, Myroneisha Miles, Dante Dent, Calia Dent, Christopher Dent, Jr. Dynasty Joseph, Melody Freeman, Melissa Freeman, Vernell Thunderbird, Gregory Thunderbird, Willie Houston, Jr. and Myles Williams; and two great-great grandchildren, Nevaeh Jemison and Kaydon Dent.
